Crowther drives Adtrain

By Frantisek Bouc

Former regional creative director of Ogilvy & Mather Central and Eastern Europe Tim Crowther has launched a new advertising company in Prague called Adtrain. Crowther has more than 30 years experience in international advertising and has won more than 200 creative awards, including the Cannes Gold Lion.

Crowther said Adtrain will provide training courses for client companies, advertising agencies and students in Central Europe.

Crowther was regional associate creative director for Asia for Dentsu Young & Rubicam in Hong Kong until 1997.

Otakar Filipec has been tapped to steer engineering giant Skoda Plzen after shuffles in the company's management. Filipec was named general manager and vice-chairman of the board.

Skoda's previous general manager, Martin Roman, resigned in order to take over the newly established Skoda Holding. Skoda Holding was founded by Skoda Plzen and its creditors within the framework of Skoda Plzen's restructuring.

Hugh Owen, senior associate in Allen & Overy's Prague office, will be relocating to the company's office in Bratislava. Owen will run the office with Igor Palka, a respected Slovak lawyer. The move is due to the growth of the Bratislava office, which opened in July of last year.

Owen joined A&O in 1994, spent six months in A&O's Prague office in 1995 and 1996, and worked in London for two years.

He has been an adviser for a variety of high-profile transactions in the Czech Republic, including corporate and commercial transactions and various capital market and banking transactions.
