New trance night launching at Mecca
Trance Department will feature international DJs every month
Posted: August 30, 2013
The first edition of Trance Department will have DJs from UK club the Gallery, including resident Gavyn Mytchel.
To avid club goers, Mecca lives up to its name. It has been the go-to place for a decade and a half. The club's 15th birthday celebration weekend will see the birth of a new monthly club night called Trance Department.
Each night will have a different theme, according to the organizers. The first edition, slated for Saturday, Sept. 7, will be the Gallery 18th Birthday Tour Edition, with DJs from the UK. DJs from the famed Gallery club coming to host the evening are Simon Patterson, Gallery resident Gavyn Mytchel and Ben Nicky.
October's Trance event will be called Coldharbour night and have DJs from Estonia, Romania and Poland. The next month's night is called On the Road to Transmission, a warm up for the biggest trance event in the CEE region. December will of course have a year-end theme.
The project is a joint effort between United Music and Club Mecca. "The visiting DJs and their music should make the events interesting to expats," Martijn van den Berg, a member of the United Music team and project manager of Trance Department, told The Prague Post. He also emphasized that technically Mecca was a good choice for the venue. "Mecca has a Funktion One Soundsystem, the best possible sound for your ears, and a nice atmosphere," he said, adding that the Trance Department event would have special decorations and some surprises. While the headliners are from other countries, the club nights will also support local talent. "All the nights will also have a second stage with four Czech DJs. The resident DJs will be Thomas Coastline and N-Rico," he added.

If you haven't been to Mecca in a while, it had a renovation in spring 2012 to turn it into a multifunctional space and to add some upgrades. "We are very happy to add a high level trance event to our portfolio and are please to work with a well experienced company like United Music on this," Radek Koch of Mecca said in a press release. "We believe that it was time for something new, a regular monthly trance event, but for very friendly prices."
