The Dvořák Prague festival starts with a special out of town concert Sept. 8 before daily events in Prague start on Sept. 10. A highlight this week is pianist Evgeny Kissin on Sept. 12. Dvořák Prague, Sept. 8-20, Rudolfinum and other venues
The National Theater presents the opera Aida on Sept. 5 and 8, and The Two Widows on Sept. 11. The State Opera presents La Traviata on Sept. 6, Don Carlo on Sept. 7, Nabucco on Sept. 10 and Madame Butterfly on Sept. 11. The Estates Theater has The Magic Flute on Sept. 7 and The Marriage of Figaro on Sept. 10.

New Jersey band Dog Eat Dog formed in 1990 and was among those who pioneered mixing rap with hardcore, and are notable for using a saxophone. Their current tour has just one stop in the Czech Republic. Rock Café, Sept 4. at 8:30
American rapper and producer Sole started his own label called Anticon, which he has since left. Aside from rapping, he is known for avant-garde and political hip-hop and has been active in the Occupy movement. Club Pilot, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m.
Taureg guitarist Bombino comes as part of the ongoing Respekt Plus festival. In 2007 he was forced into exile, and guitars were banned for Tauregs in Nigeria. He has since been able to return. His most recent album is called Nomad. Palác Akropolis, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The Smíchov Open Air Festival will have Transglobal Underground, lots of Czech bands and a stage for new acts. Staropramen Brewery, Sept. 7 from 1 to 10 p.m.
Mecca in association with United Music are launching a new montly club night called Trance Department. The first edition has visiting DJs from the UK including Gallery resident Gavyn Mytchel. Each month will have a theme and international guest DJs plus Czech residents. Mecca, Sept. 7 at 10 p.m.
A series of concerts and other events runs at Vyšehrad until Sept. 22 in the 10th edition of a festival called Vyšehraní. Most concerts start between 6 and 7 p.m., and there is a medieval market on Sept. 21
New Zealand hip hop singer Ladi6 appears in Prague for the first time. Lucerna Music Bar, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m.
While Gil Scott-Heron is gone, the spirit of his music lives on with the Legacy of Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson, a show that is not a tribute or cover acr, but a re-envisioning of his musical and political themes. Palác Akropolis, Sept. 10 at 7:30
Jazz Dock has re-opened and will have funk band JAR, featuring Roman Holý and Dan Bárta, for two nights, Sept. 11 and 12 at 10
Coins, paper money, stamps, gold and the like from dirt cheap to astronomically expensive is at the Collectors Fair. PVA Letňany, Sept. 5-7
