Dobřichovice's day of culture
Dance, theater and sword play at 10th edition of town's big annual event

Swords, fire and all things medieval will once again form an integral part of the culture event scheduled for Sept. 7 in the central Bohemian town of Dobřichovice.
The Beroun-based historical fencing group Agentura Alotrium is organizing the 10th annual Dobřichovická Alotria in the central Bohemian town of Dobřichovice, a 30-minute train ride from Prague's main train station, to be held Saturday, Sept. 7.
Although best known for its historical fencing - or more accurately, sword fighting - the day includes numerous other activities. Agentura Alotrium, which also organizes other historically oriented events throughout the year, has trained professionals who will perform, so you can leave your sword at home, but there will be many activities to keep you occupied throughout the day, from dance performances to horse riding for children. In keeping with the theme of the day, there will also be a historical market, an opportunity for you to show off your archery skills, and even some jousting organized specially for children.
The day's festivities will come to an end in the courtyard of Dobřichovice Castle, where a performance of the musical Noc na Karlštejně (A Night at Karlštejn), based on the famous 1971 film by Zdeněk Podskalský. The musical was originally planned for the beginning of the summer, but when the floods hit at the end of May and the beginning of June, hitting the small town particularly hard, the event was canceled and rescheduled to coincide with the town's culture day Sept. 7. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.
In order to organize the events on the day, Agentura Alotrium receives financial support from the Dobřichovice Town Hall and the Řehoř construction company. Budějovický Budvar, Alois Dallmayr Kaffee and Šiba Plus are all supporting the day by sponsoring materials, and Trans Hospital will provide medical care.
When: Saturday, Sept. 7, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Where: Dobřichovice Castle, just across the Berounka River from the town's train station
Tickets: 100 Kč for adults; 50 Kč for children; free to anyone shorter than a sword
