Otis Grand was named UK Blues Guitarist of the Year seven times.
UK blues guitarist Otis Grand has four dates in Prague, playing with the locally based Marcel Flemr Band. In addition to appearing at the 35th International Jazz Festival at Reduta, he will be at Jazz Dock, U Malého Glena and Ungelt.
Grand was named one of the top 50 blues guitarists by Guitarist magazine in 2001, and BB King once said, "Otis plays the guitar like I did when I was young." Grand also was named UK Blues Guitarist of the Year seven times by Blues Connection magazine, beating Eric Clapton who only won four times, according to a press release.
CNN called him "one of the most gifted Blues guitarists in recent decades," and The Times (London) said, "Grand is a revelation."
Grand was born in 1950 but managed to survive the late 1960s intact. "I never listened to any one but B.B. King, Robert Johnson and all the blues guys for a very, very long time, and I am glad I've missed out on all the heavy blues/rock/acid thing that was going on in the '60s," he said.

He was born in the Beirut, Lebanon, but grew up in the US and since the 1980s has been based in the UK.
