A treat for Halloween tricksters
Bloody Sexy Halloweekend offers two days of costumed fun

Prague is not a stranger to nightlife. And if you want stranger nightlife, you don't have to look any further than Bloody Sexy Halloweekend 5, a party for people who want to dress up to celebrate All Hallows' Eve.
The party in Prague offers music, costume contests, and other exciting entertainment for anyone over the age of 18 looking for an unforgettable Halloween. The popularity of the party, originally just called Bloody Sexy Halloween, when it began in 2009 astonished many people, including co-founder Sandro Martins Valigy. "The club expected 400 people with only a two week promotion, but we had 2,000 show up," he said.
Since then, the event has continued to grow. "To cope with the demand, in 2011 the event started to take place on two nights, reaching 5,000 people partying and dressed up in costumes," he said, adding that the two-day event was named "Halloweekend." Because it now covers more than one night, Valigy said that "differences between the first and second night are a must." The event is also being marketed as Bloody Sexy Halloweekend 5.
And it seems as though Bloody Sexy Halloween has more than enough to keep the party-goers entertained for two nights. Some of the entertainment for the weekend includes dancers, fire and light show performers, and 12 different DJs. "Our headliner for this year is the Zombie Kids flying in from Spain. People will love their show," Valigy said.
When: Nov. 1-2, 9 p.m.-5 a.m.
Where: SaSaZu, Bubenské nábř.306/13, Prague 7
One feature that draws the crowd to Bloody Sexy Halloween every year is the costume contest. Spanning over the two-day Halloweekend, this isn't your average run-of-the-mill contest. "Friday it's a semi-final and on Saturday the finalists come to the stage with the audience voting for the best one," Valigy said. "It's amazing to see everyone cheering for their favorites when all of them are already winners for their originality and creativity." But if originality and creativity aren't good enough incentives to persuade people to enter the contest, a 15,000 Kč cash prize for the winner might do the trick.
Costume contest aside, people just seem to love the atmosphere Bloody Sexy Halloween offers. People like it so much that they're willing to travel quite the distance to get there. "Every year the interest from abroad groups is higher," Valigy said. "In the past people flew from Portugal, UK, drove from Germany and Poland."
No matter if party-goers are a plane ride away from Bloody Sexy Halloween or just a tram ride away, most people would say the travel time is worth it. Valigy thinks this is because Halloween holds a special place in peoples' hearts.
"In general, everyone has a fantasy to dress up and be whatever they want to be. Happening only once in a year and with so many traditions and features, Halloween is an 'only of its kind' event that easily gets connected to the people," Valigy said.
